Merry Christmas! December 2011 was not a stellar month by any means. Book sales were down, which is to be expected. Stock photo sales were up! 10 photo sales this month. Slow but steady progress.
Surprisingly, my most popular image this month was of a student microscope.
I homeschool my children, and this year we did biology. Overall we did 21 lab dissections! Gross. At least I have brave kids willing to help cut dead things open! When doing stock, you can take photos of your every day life. While not top sellers, it allows me to still be with my kids, spend time doing what I love, and documenting it along the way. Another popular photo is of our frog dissection.
I know, totally nasty!!! But, there are not many frog dissection photos on Shutterstock! In fact, if people want to find me (other than clicking on my portfolio link), I always tell them to search for “frog dissection” and I’m one of the top photos. Once on my photo, they just have to click on Vezzani Photography and they’re in! It’s good to occasionally do searches for random things and see how many photos are already on the stock agency. If you have a niche photo, you may have more success with it.
